Al-Kathiri wins Outstanding Marine Achievement Award 2017 in the UAE
Dr Eng. Abdullah Salem Al Kathiri, Director General of the Federal Authority for Land and Marine Transport, received the Outstanding Marine Achievement Award for the year 2017 at the prestigious Marine Business Awards ceremony under the patronage of Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Aviation United Arab Emirates.
This annual award is considered one of the most important awards in which the best achievements and maritime practices of outstanding people or institutions are honoured. Dr Al-Kathiri was honoured as the result of a continuous and vigorous effort to develop the affairs of transport, shipping and ports.
The award of this award, as Director General of the Federal Authority for Land and Maritime Transport, is an important factor in enhancing the status of the maritime sector at the regional and global levels. This will enhance the chances of the country’s candidature for membership of the IMO Council on category B in December.
Dr Abdulla Salem Al-Kathiri has extensive experience spanning nearly 30 years, during which he held many leadership positions in both federal and local government agencies. Since 2007, he has been working in the Federal Authority for Land and Maritime Transport. Here he supervised and participated in the development and implementation of plans, Including the National Transport Plan, and has revitalised important systems such as the Road Transport and Railways Act and has played an important role in the development of transport systems in the GCC and the world.
Alkatiri successfully represented the UAE in many regional conferences and meetings and did much to raise the country’s level in this field.
The Youth and Student Administration in Minya Governorate, in cooperation with the Council of Ministers’ Anti-Addiction and Abuse Control Fund, organised a dialogue meeting at the National Council of Women’s branch under the title “Together to face addiction” for awareness.
